WILD BIRD CLUB OF THE PHILIPPINES

The Wild Bird Club of the Philippines is a nationwide club of birdwatchers interested in the wild birds of the Philippines and in the preservation of these birds. Through their main advocacy of preserving the biodiversity of birds, encouraging and educating the public regarding birds and the respective habitats through organizing numerous bird watching events, and nature tours, they assist in the protection of the habitat along with the sustainable management of both the flora and fauna of the Philippines through public engagement and awareness raising on the importance of protecting the habitat of our local birds, and the biodiversity of our country in general.

They also foster collaboration with local and international organizations in various joint conservation activities, along with joining campaigns against destructive projects such as reclamation and dredging in Manila Bay and the construction of the Pasig River Expressway (PAREX) spearheaded by the San Miguel Corporation, significantly contribute to the protection of endangered species and their environment, thus properly living out the responsibility of humanity as environmental stewards.

One of the club’s notable achievements is its rigorous approach to data management. The WBCP ensures that all records are maintained with the highest standards of integrity and transparency. They have established robust protocols for managing both public and sensitive data, balancing open access with necessary confidentiality to protect vulnerable species and their habitats. One key example of this is their extensive library of bird and habitat information which significantly contribute to the knowledge pool of our local ecology.
